Taveta court puts 56 minors on probation over drinking alcohol

On Wednesday, Taveta Magistrate Geoffrey Kimang’a put the minors on three years of probation and ordered them to report to the Children’s Department after every three months.

The magistrate warned that the court will not extend such leniency to similar offenders in the future.

“I order the parents and guardians of these minors to ensure that they report to the Children’s Department as ordered failure to which they will face the law,” Mr Kimang’a warned.

The children, who were being held at the Taveta Police Station, were arrested last week at Veteran Club and charged with underage drinking.
