Bus driver hits, kills traffic police officer in Voi

A traffic police officer died after he was hit by a speeding bus at Ndara roadblock in Voi on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The officer, who was standing by the roadside, died on the spot after the bus that was heading to Mombasa from Nairobi hit him.
Voi OCPD Joshua Chesire said the driver of the bus has been arrested and will be arraigned to face a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
“It is such an unfortunate incident that has happened to one of us,” he said.
Mr Chesire said the bus passengers were forced to board another vehicle since it was impounded by the police.
“The vehicle will be inspected before being released,” he said.
The body of the officer was taken to Moi County Referral Hospital’s mortuary in Voi town.
A sombre mood engulfed the police station as his colleagues tried to come to terms with the incident.
The officers described him as a dedicated colleague.
