Trans Nzoia assembly speaker among 10 wounded in village fracas

At least 10 people, among them Trans Nzoia County Assembly Speaker Joshua Werunga, are nursing injuries following confrontation with police.

The people are said to have been shot by police officers at Kolongolo village in Kwanza. Mr Werunga was hit with a blunt object.

The officers had reportedly gone to arrest a man suspected to have attacked a woman but a confrontation ensued leading to the shooting incident.

The injured victims were taken to Mt Elgon Hospital in Kitale but Mr Werunga has been transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
