Robbers kill Israeli man, injure wife in Trans-Nzoia

An Israeli man was killed on Wednesday morning when robbers broke into his house at Spring Valley Estate in Trans-Nzoia.

The 43-year-old man identified as Yeshayahu Wooton is said to have been hit several times on the head with a blunt object.

His wife, a medical doctor at the Kitale Referral Hospital, was injured and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Confirming the incident, Trans-Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Ali said the robbers made away with two mobile phones and a 42-inch television set. He added that some Sh220,000 that had been stashed under a mattress was recovered.

Mr Ali said the woman made a distress call when the robbers attacked but no one heard since there was a mourning vigil in the neighbourhood where loud music was being played.

He said police have opened investigation into the incident.

"This is an isolated incident in the county and we are following leads," said Mr Ali.
