Deputy County Commissioner Yussuf Boru told Nation that seven people were in the vehicle.

“Two men and two women died in the attack while three other people escaped unhurt. We have taken survivors to their homes,” the administrator said, adding that enough security personnel have been deployed in the volatile area.

The bodies were taken to Baringo Referral Hospital in Kabarnet.

An hour later, two people died in a revenge attack in Marigat.

Mr Boru said on hearing of the Ameyan raid, Marigat residents attacked a minibus that was heading to Tiaty.

Locals threw stones at passengers who had jumped from the bus in an attempt to save their lives.

Nominated MCA Julia Kandie and other leaders condemned the killings.

“Why are locals killing innocent passengers over an attack that took place many kilometres away? We must learn to live in peace,” she said.
