  • The boy says he was attacked on his way to school and sodomised in an abandoned house.

A 10-year-old boy was sodomised by three students in Habaswein, Wajir County.

Habaswein OCPD Benjamin Kimwele confirmed the incident, saying the boy’s parent discovered a change in his behaviour and how he walks.

SODOMISED

Upon inquiry, the boy said three other boys sodomised him on his way to school between February 8 and March 23.

The boys are reported to have committed the act in an abandoned house.

The boy’s father took him to hospital and the doctor confirmed that he had been sexually assaulted.

Mr Kimwele said officers took up the matter quickly.

He added that following investigations, officers arrested the suspects.

Two of the suspects are secondary school students aged 13 and 14 years, while the age of the third one was yet to be confirmed.

The two were taken to court on Thursday and charged. They were granted a bond of Sh100,000 each and ordered to appear for hearing on April 4.

ASSAULT

This is the fourth incident of rape in Habaswein since January.

In February, a 15-year-old girl was gang raped by three people for three days and severely injured.

The incident triggered public outcry and wide condemnation.

Mr Kimwele urged religious leaders to step up efforts in teaching against rape.

“This war now needs to be taken to our places of worship and in order to be won, religious leaders in the county should be at the forefront in condemning such incidences,” he said.

Mr Kimwele added that failure to report sexual assault or resolving the matter through the maslaha system is to blame for the increase in such incidences.
