Harambee Stars defender Eric Ouma, who features for Swedish top-tier side AIK, suffered a fractured fibula on Friday while training and while be out of action for eight weeks.
The club announced the development on its portal and social media accounts. The player underwent surgery on Saturday and Nation Sport has learnt he will be discharged from hospital on Sunday.
"I was sliding in an attempt to reach for a ball during training, but I unfortunately fell on my right leg with all the weight and fractured my fibula," the former Gor Mahia left-back told Nation Sport.
"It was a painful experience but I have already undergone surgery, on Saturday, and I am happy with the progress so far. I will be discharged this afternoon (Sunday) and I am hoping to recover within the eight weeks and get back to action," he added.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa is among the many Kenyans who took to social media to wish the highly-rated defender a speedy recovery.
Ouma joined AIK in November 2019 from Swedish third-tier side Vasalund in a five-year deal and has quickly won the hearts of the club's faithful having featured in several test matches.
