Police in Isiolo are holding a man who allegedly chopped off his wife’s head on Sunday night during a domestic feud.

Mr David Karingori, 28, later surrendered at Kulamawe Police Post carrying his two-year-old son.

Neighbours claimed that Karingori was violent and that his wife had fled their matrimonial home several times fearing for her life.

“We were used to their fights and when we heard the wife scream, we did not think it would have gotten this far,” said one of the residents.

Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander George Kariuki told the Nation that the suspect was immediately detained at Isiolo Police Station and the woman’s body taken to Isiolo Referral Hospital mortuary.

“Investigations into the matter are underway to establish what transpired,” said Mr Kariuki adding.

There has been a surge in domestic violence cases within Kulamawe following the curfew that seeks to curb the spread of the corona virus.

The incident comes barely a month after a couple was arrested at Poolman area within Kulamawe in connection with the killing of a man in a suspected love triangle.

A week ago, a 24-year-old woman stabbed her friend with a knife at Franco area leaving her with severe injuries.

The police boss has asked residents to be tolerant and embrace dialogue in solving domestic matters.

“There is no need to use violence as it causes more suffering. Please embrace dialogue and  other peaceful dispute resolution mechanisms,” appealed Mr Kariuki.
