Sheila Masinde named TI’s acting executive director

Transparency International-Kenya (TI-Kenya) has appointed Sheila Masinde to serve as the organisation’s acting executive director following the resignation of Samuel Kimeu.

The chair of the board, Mrs Bernadette Musundi, made the announcement through a press release to newsrooms.

Ms Musundi said the company has accepted the resignation of Mr Kimeu with effect from January 2020.

“Ms Masinde has been part of TI-Kenya’s senior management team since 2015, directly responsible for the overall management of programmes, strategic planning and development, reporting to donors and stakeholders, advocacy and resource mobilisation and therefore the board has confidence that she has the experience to steer the organisation in the transition period,” said Ms Musundi in her statement.

PREVIOUS APPOINTMENTS

Prior to her appointment, Ms Masinde has been part of the company’s top management since 2015 having been the firm’s programmes manager since then.

She was also the Research and Learning manager from March 2014. She first worked for TI-Kenya between 2009 and 2012 as the Advocacy and communications officer before her appointment as Training and Communications manager at BBC Media Action between 2012 and 2014.

Ms Musundi said Mr Kimeu leaves behind a qualified and committed staff and management team that will continue to develop cutting-edge programmes and initiates to deliver TI-Kenya’s vision of a corruption free Kenya.

“Mr Kimeu has worked hand in hand with the senior management team to steer the organisation’s strategic direction leading to institutional growth and sustainability.

She added Mr Kimeu will continue to serve the TI movement in his capacity as a member of the TI International board of directors, a position he was elected to in 2017 until the end of his term in November 2020.
