The much-awaited Ebola virus vaccine has been pre-qualified by the World Health Organisation (WHO), offering hope to at risk populations. The vaccine, ERVEBO [Ebola Zaire Vaccine is the first vaccine to be pre-qualified by the WHO for the prevention of Ebola Virus Disease The vaccine is currently being reviewed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with a target action date of March 14, 2020. This means that ERVEBO has met the WHO’s standards of quality, efficacy and tolerability, which, in conjunction with other criteria, offers guidance to in making relevant vaccine decisions.
