Kericho County Chief Public Relations Officer Timothy Kipngetich Kemei has died.

Mr Kemei, a former journalist with the Nation Media Group, died at Kericho's Siloam Hospital following an asthma attack on Sunday morning.

The news of Mr Kemei's death was broken by Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony.

"Kemei developed breathing problems last night occasioned by his long history and struggle with asthma," stated Professor Chepkwony.

The governor said that efforts to resuscitate Mr Kemei at Siloam Hospital failed.

"He was an astute, diligent civil servant and a strong pillar in my administration," said the governor.

Kemei, who leaves behind a widow, Mercy and a two year old son, is said to have initially been rushed to the hospital at 3am  following an attack, where he was stabilised and discharged.

However, at around mid-day, he had a second attack at his Kericho residence before he was rushed to the hospital by his wife and a colleague.
