Kwale teacher arrested after girl kidnapped for 14 days, defiled

Police in Kwale County have arrested a primary school teacher for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.
The 30-year-old teacher at Kiruku Primary School in Lunga Lunga Sub-county is said to have forcefully cohabited with the girl for 14 days.
Msambweni Sub-county Police Commander Nehemiah Bitok said the girl’s parents reported her missing on June 26.
"The girl was found at Ratinga in Ukunda, days after a thorough police search," said Mr Bitok.
GIRL’S ACCOUNT
The girl said the teacher would lock her up in a dark room and defiled her daily.
She said he had an accomplice who pinned her down as he committed the crime.
"Another man forcefully held me when I refused to give in, " she said, adding the two would threaten to harm her.
The minor said that on the day she went missing, she met two men, one of whom greeted her.
"I don’t remember how they captured me. I just found myself in their hands. They locked me up in a strange room,” she said.
WORRYING REPORTS
Mr Bitok asked parents to closely monitor their children’s movements as schools will remain closed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kwale County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge decried increasing cases of defilement in the county, saying at least 18 had been reported since March.
"This is a worrying trend so the government will not hesitate to deal with the perpetrators," he said.
Mr Nthenge said the teacher will be charged in court on Monday amid a search for his accomplice.
