Police in Nyandarua West are holding a 22-year-old man suspected to have defiled a 10-year-old girl at Thayu village.

The boda boda rider allegedly lured the class five-year-old girl into his house on Saturday and committed the crime.

Nyandarua West Sub-county Police Commander , Wanyama Nyongesa, said the victim’s mother told officers at Ngano Police Station that she had sent her daughter to the shops but she took too long to return home.

“After inquiring from neighbours, she was told the girl had been seen aboard the suspect’s motorcycle. After she returned home, the minor revealed to her that the suspect had taken her to his house and defiled her,” said Mr Nyongesa.

He said the man was arrested at Ngano shopping centre and taken to the local police station while the minor was taken to Ol-Bolossat dispensary for medical checks.

“He will be arraigned on Monday. We are going to deal with those who think they can take advantage of our children and walk Scot-free,” warned the police boss.
