Man, 70, charged with defiling 9-year-old granddaughter
A 12-year-old girl who was defiled by her father. In Tharaka Constituency, a 70-year-old man was charged in a Marimanti court last Wednesday with defiling his nine-year-old granddaughter.
A 70-year-old man was charged in a Marimanti court in Tharaka Constituency last Wednesday with defiling his nine-year-old granddaughter.
Before Principal Magistrate, Mr Peter Maina, the court heard that the man from Mwarange village in Marimanti location committed the heinous crime on August 7, 2020.
The court was told that the accused was left at home with the girl and her brother when he lured the victim into his house and defiled her.

It also heard that the grandson, who witnessed the atrocious act, later narrated to their mother what their grandfather did to his sister.
The mother reported the matter to Nyumba Kumi elders who facilitated the man’s arrest by officers from Marimanti Police Station.
The suspect denied the charges and was given a bond of Sh1 million, which he was unable to immediately pay.
He will remain at Embu Prison remand until September 1, 2020 when the matter will be heard if he will not pay the bond.
