What you need to know:

  • Don't say anything about it.
  • Your boss doesn't want to be reminded, especially not by a subordinate, especially not if the meeting is already over.

Hi Brenda,

My boss accidentally shared an x-rated conversation during a zoom meeting. Should I say something about it or should I just let it pass?

Hi,

Don't say anything about it. Your boss doesn't want to be reminded, especially not by a subordinate, especially not if the meeting is already over.

The danger in this is that you could be carrying around some sense of embarrassment or shame that’s not yours to carry. If he indeed shared it accidentally, then he is probably going through the same motions.

During the pandemic, we have watched numerous videos of Zoom calls gone wrong. I can only imagine what it’s like when someone’s embarrassing moments are broadcasted.

Now, if you want to be devious, you can might want to subtly refer to the meeting when he’s berating you about missing that deadline, for example. That should buy you some time. It might even the floor for a few minutes.

All in all, embarrassing zoom meetings are part of the new normal. We live and learn.
