Covid-19: 497 more test positive

  • The 497 new patients were found following the testing of 4,171 samples in the last 24 hours.

Kenya on Tuesday reported 497 more Covid-19 infections, raising the country's tally to 27,425 since the virus was first confirmed on March 13.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi also reported 15 more deaths, raising the toll to 438.

Dr Mwangangi noted that 11 of these that died had underlying conditions.

From the samples tested, Nairobi (239) still had the majority of infections followed by Kiambu (45), Kajiado (26), Mombasa (19), Machakos (19) and Laikipia (18).

Four hundred and sixty seven of them were Kenyans and 30 foreigners while male patients numbered 312 and female patients 185. 

Dr Mwangangi also announced that 372 patients had been discharged, raising the country's total number of recoveries to 13, 867.

Of the recovered patients, 315 were under home care and 57 in hospitals.
