What you need to know:

  • Nondi started his professional career at Gor Mahia Youth, a team that is basically supported by Gor Mahia fans.
  • "I still remember how the fans would come together to support us and that really gave me the platform to show my talent to the world. I will forever remain grateful to them." he concluded.

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Amos Nondi is enjoying his time at Georgian top flight side Dila Gori.

Nondi moved to Georgia in 2017 from Gor Mahia, joining Kolkheti Poti where he stayed for just a season and later joined his current side Dila Gori.

However, it hasn't been all rosy as he explained to Nation Sport.

"I encountered culture shock and it was very hard for me in the first few months. The good thing is fellow Kenyan international Eric Ouma had joined the club before me and he really helped me to settle in," he said.

"I had a pretty good season and moved to Dila Gori. I have played at the club for two seasons now and I am honestly having the time of my life," he added.

Little has been heard locally of the creative midfielder since he moved to Georgia as he has never been called to the national team, Harambee Stars.

However, he remains optimistic that his time to play for the national team will come.

"Alot was said about the level of the Georgian League when I first moved here, but it is far much better than the Kenyan Premier League in terms of competitiveness and professionalism," Nondi said.

"I wouldn't therefore say that I haven't been called to the national team because I play at a lower level as many believe. My mission and goal is to continue working hard and I know my time will come and I will grab the opportunity with open hands and make use of it."

Dila Gori is currently at the top of the Georgian Premier League with 11 points having played five matches.
