Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has sent a strongly-worded warning to anyone trying to register football associations in counties.

One of the requirements in the Sports Act (2013) for sporting organizations to be formally registered is to have representation in all counties and with the fate of FKF elections still unknown, word has it some interested candidates have allegedly kicked off the registration of county football associations.

FKF has never fully complied with the requirements underlined by the Sports Registrar and the move by candidates to kick-start registration of the county associations is said to be a political tactic to beat FKF in their own game.

This has not escaped the attention of the federation and in a letter to all FKF branch chairmen and secretaries, it warned against the move.

"The National office has learnt of ongoing efforts led by a few non-FKF members to register County Football Associations as part of a scheme to occasion confusion in the management and running of football. especially at the grassroots level," the letter signed by FKF CEO Barry Otieno reads in part.

"Consequently, the National Office has written to the Sports Registrar regarding the same and informed Fifa of the conduct of the said non-members. Nonetheless, we wish to remind members of their obligation to both the FKF and Fifa statutes and the need to adhere to the same, while engaging in the aforementioned matter.

"We will continue to monitor the situation with the option of deciding on the next steps should the registration exercise infringe on the rights of any member," it adds.
