Kenyan international to stay on longer at Reading

  • Timbe has played 31 minutes for Reading in the Championship since his arrival. He came on as a substitute against Sheffield Wednesday on February 15 for four minutes, played 19 minutes against Barnsley (February 29) and was used for eight minutes against Derby County (June 27). He was on the bench against Wigan Athletic (February 26), Birmingham (March 7) and Brentford (June 30).

Kenyan international Ayub Masika Timbe has extended his loan spell at Reading FC until the end of this season from Beijing Renhe, reports indicate.

According to news outlet Reading Chronicle, Reading FC coach Mark Bowen also confirmed the extending of loan deals of players Ovie Ejaria, Matt Miazga, Pele and Lucas Boye currently at the Championship side from Liverpool, Chelsea, Monaco and Torino respectively.

Timbe’s contract with Reading was set to expire on Tuesday (June 30), having signed on January 31 this year from the Chinese second-tier outfit.

The initial loan deals of the five were due to expire on June 30. The abrupt halting of sports in March for 100 days due to coronavirus outbreak led to the rescheduling of the league now set to end on July 22.

Reading is currently placed 16th in the 24-team league with 49 points from 40 games after Bowen’s men latest 3-0 defeat at the hands of Premier League-chasing Brentford.

This was Reading’s second straight loss which keeps them 12 points out of contention for a place in the promotion playoffs and just seven above the relegation zone.
