Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya, who is gunning to reclaim the seat, has distanced himself from an alliance formed by fellow aspirants with aim of fielding a single candidate to face incumbent Nick Mwewndwa in the body's next elections.

Nyamweya is adamant he will go to the polls alone after he rubbished the 'Super Alliance' formed on Tuesday by Nicholas Musonye, Twaha Mbarak, Lordvick Aduda and Sammy Shollei.

"The said coalition has nothing new to offer the football family than to regurgitate facts that have already been canvassed," said Nyamweya on Wednesday.

"My mind is very clear on the vision and objectives for the Kenyan football, and my fight to have free fair and transparent elections cannot be gainsained and is unstoppable."

Meanwhile, former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule is the latest aspirant to throw his hat in the race to dethrone Mwendwa.

Mule, a city businessman, who led Leopards for four years upto last June, says he will, if elected, ensure national team selections are done in a free and fair manner.

"I want to give the youth from the villages a chance to play football at the highest level. I will also ensure there is no wrangling when I am in charge," he said.

Former FKF officials Herbert Mwachiro and Tom Alila are the other candidates in the race ahead of the polls which have tentatively been planned for the next six months.

And in a related development, Mwendwa Wednesday continued his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls by meeting football members from Eastern and Central region in a gathering dubbed Covid-19 return to football plan.

"We have been out of football for a long time now and it was important that we have a sit down with the FKF management to give them our recommendations on what we feel should be considered in the return to football plan," said Sam Mwongela, representing Makueni County.
