After the fiasco that saw Elani put the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) in the hot seat, the band has released a new single featuring Ugandan hit-maker Jose Chameleone... but at a price.

The song titled My Darling has a 40-second teaser on You Tube, but fans can listen to the full song only after purchasing it for Sh30. Speaking to Showbuzz, Brian Chweya, the only male in the group, said the decision was not entirely because of MCSK’s nonpayment issues.

“It was not really because of the MCSK debacle but rather we are looking for different avenues of making revenue from our music and possibly see how this strategy can work. People are buying the song and we are so grateful to our amazing fan base that

keeps on supporting our music. You never know how it will pan out; we created this platform for ourselves and it is slowly picking up,” he said.

Brian revealed that they (Elani) are trying to sync their schedules with Chameleone’s and lock down a date for the shooting and release of the video, which they anticipate will be out in two to three weeks.
