What you need to know:

  • Feza Kessy 'shocked' by leaked Mawazo ya Moyo music video

What did you miss most in the last 78 days you were in the Big Brother Africa house?

I missed my son and the many parties I used to attend in Dar es Salaam.

So you are a party girl?

Well, being in the entertainment scene, I must be out in the club and other social scenes, just to make sure that I keep tabs on what is happening. I missed my favourite hang-out joints and friends.

You and Vanessa Mdee of MTVBase seem to be very close

Yes, she is my girl and very real. I have gone through the tweets and found out that she supported me greatly while I was in the game.

There is a lot of speculation that you are actually Kenyan and not Tanzanian, can you shed some light on this?

I knew people would say that eventually. Okay, my father is Congolese and my mother is Tanzanian. I was born and raised in Kenya, where I also went to school.

That somehow makes you a Kenyan

Not at all. I hold a Tanzanian passport and not a Kenyan one. My parents were just working in Kenya when I was born, and that was it.

Which schools did you attend in Kenya?

I went to different boarding schools while in primary school but I did my high school at Senior Chief Koinange, where musicians like Jaguar went to.

So why did you vote Kenyan contestant Annabel out in the Big Brother House?

Honestly, I supported her a lot throughout the show from the beginning, Huddah too. But I was under a lot of pressure at the end. I figured out it was just a game anyway, so I had to do what I had to do.

Any personal differences with her?

Not at all. In fact, I would like to meet her. Maybe we can do an East African tour, together with the Ugandan contestants.

Are you the only one in showbiz in your family and how many are you?

We are four, my two elder sisters are not in showbiz at all, but my younger brother is a rapper.

Has he released any song?

Not yet, he is still trying to sharpen his skills but I know he will record soon and get out there.

Tell us about your son

He is adorable… that’s the only information I can give you now.

You released your music before going to the Big Brother show

Yes, I had recorded and released the audio of my debut track ‘Mawazo ya Moyo’ a few months before Big Brother Africa. But before I went to the show, I had recorded the video too but didn’t release it.

But it’s already out on YouTube…

I was shocked to be shown the video while I was in the house. I think someone must have leaked it.

Have you done a song with Vanessa Mdee?

Not yet, we have been talking about that for a long time but I think it will now materialise.

Are you still going to work with Unity Entertainment?

Yes I will. Unity Entertainment is owned by rapper AY and it’s doing well. AY is exposed to music and musicians from across the continent so I still think he is my best bet.

You had a love affair with South Africa’s housemate O’Neal. What next?

I don’t know about that now that we are both out of the house. I know I love him but I’m not sure what will happen from now on

Before he left, he said that you were planning to relocate to South Africa

Those were my plans originally, mainly because I wanted to further my studies there and work more on my music.

What are your immediate plans now that you are out?

I will definitely use my recently acquired continental audience to market my music. I’m looking forward to performing in East, West and South Africa.
