What you need to know:

  • This chick doesn't love you at all. If there is even a consideration of making a lifetime commitment to someone who isn't you, after a five year relationship, because of money, then the writing is on the wall.
  • She hasn't chosen you.

Hello Brenda,

I'm Samuel, 23 years old and in University. I have been in a relationship for almost five years with this lady, but as now her parents want her to be married to some rich guy in USA, also she has another guy here in Africa who has also proposed to her parents. I'm not being considered because I'm not stable and of course still a student .

Talking about this issue with my girlfriend. She is interested in getting married to the guy who is abroad simply because he might be able to boost their family financially.

It seems like she wants to abandon me in future. Mark you, we still talk daily and she insists that she loves me.

Which step do I take?

Do I move on?

Dear Deluded Desmond,

This chick doesn't love you at all. If there is even a consideration of making a lifetime commitment to someone who isn't you, after a five year relationship, because of money, then the writing is on the wall.

You say you are in school, so that means you know how to read it. I hope she isn't lying to you that he can sponsor your relationship and then she'll leave him when you've saved enough, because that isn't bloody likely.

Why is she comparing you with someone who is at a different level of life from you? If she doesn't have faith in your future or your future together, then you are both wasting each other’s' time.

She hasn't chosen you.

Don't choose her either. You'll get over it, and find someone who actually wants to be with you instead of a wallet.
