Hi Brenda, thanks for all your advice. My boyfriend is really good to me. Everything is okay, except that he eats with his mouth wide open. He talks while chewing and basically has zero table manners. They say you can’t change a man, right? This is the only problem he has so far and it’s embarrassing to go places with him because of such caveman manners. Do you think I should try to fix him or just call it quits?
Bad table manners are so...well, bad. It makes you think someone was raised by wolves. And even wolves are relatively tidy. Like...who does that? Sigh. Anyway...that being said, try to keep in mind that this is a good man, regardless of his lack of dinner etiquette.
And fortunately, things like dinner etiquette can be changed. It isn't like height, which he can't do anything about. So, maybe have a talk with the guy about how he eats and see how he takes it.
You can't be the only one grossed out by it, surely. In fact, you're doing him a favour by telling him – I, for one, judge people on how they eat. This you can't change a man spiel is so tired.
Everyone changes, and couples often change together, and that's ok. You're making him a better eater. Just make sure you're as gracious if he ever feels the need to point out something about you...
