JUST BRENDA: He said 'we need to talk' but has now shut me out, help!

What you need to know:

  • If he wants to break up, or has a side chick, or has been hiding a baby from you, he should just say so instead of throwing you into spasms of nervousness.
  • That's just rude.

Hi Brenda,

A guy I’m dating sent me a text saying he wanted to tell me something important but when we met, he said it was nothing serious and refused to talk about it. Should I believe him? I have a funny feeling about the whole thing.

I need more information on this situation. Why did he make it sound urgent? What could he possibly be scared to say? Do you have any idea what this could be, have you been arguing or talking about a particularly important issue lately?

You used the word funny, which means that you think it is likely to be a negative thing as opposed to, say, a proposal. But yes. This sounds markedly dodgy. Is he playing games? If so, why? If not,...why call for an urgent meeting?

If he wants to break up, or has a side chick, or has been hiding a baby from you, he should just say so instead of throwing you into spasms of nervousness. That's just rude.
