Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is from a breed of rare singers who, when performing on stage, not only mesmerise but also make an impact that is larger than life. The singer and master of Hindustani music is scheduled to return to Kenya at the newly-opened Diamond Plaza 2 Auditorium for a live concert on Saturday June 23, 2018.
Rahat, who continues to rule the music world, is the nephew and protégé of the mighty khan of South East Asian music, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The maestro initially performed in his uncle’s Qawali group but grew up to be a star power for sell-out shows around the world.
The mesmerising singer has given new dimensions to Bollywood film songs. The romance of his voice has spread like a virus from his home in Faisalabad, Pakistan, across the border to India, and become a universal heartbeat.
Besides being a sought-after playback singer for Indian and Pakistani movies, Rahat finds time to tour the world, performing for millions of fans. He has received many prestigious national and international awards for his contribution to music. His collaboration with Eddie Vedder of American rock band Pearl Jam and musical scores for Hollywood movies are still a rave.
