ASIA SCENE: A show fused with patriotic and poetical romance

Kenbharti’s eighth episode of SALAAM (salutations mother) to celebrate India’s 70th Republic Day last Saturday evening at the Oshwal Junior Academy scored not only to ignite patriotic feelings but also excelled in spreading poetical romance and joy.
A full house of happy audience, led by guest of honour business icon Rakesh Rao and the Indian High Commissioner H.E. Rahul Chabra, was overwhelmed by simple yet delightful flow of romantic poetry and rather satirical dose of parody on social and political issues laced with snippets of nostalgic musical renderings.
The Kavi Samelan or poetical symposium featuring India’s popular muses was the highlight of the evening. Dinesh Raghuvanshi conducted the samelan with parody king Sudeep Bhola and the charming churner of words of love with a unique feminine touch Mumtaz Naseem.
Our local Kenyan musical duo Kunal Patel and Manish Atre provided the musical solace with nostalgic renderings to support the visiting poets. Kenbharti the non-profit making group besides playing caring and thoughtful hosts made history by launching quarterly publication of a new stream of Hindi language publication HASTAKSHAR as a positive Hindi promotional tool.
The Centre’s chairman Abhijeet Gupta and his dedicated team of social workers deserve congratulations for staging this enjoyable salutation to MAA.
Following this salutations, it is time to pay homage to an iconic Indian Ghazal singer- Jagjit Singh whose voice lives on to mesmerise yet another generation of ghazal lovers.
Navrang Fine Arts Foundation is all set to pay a melodious tribute to the emperor of ghazal at the Oshwal Centre Auditorium Westlands next Sunday evening the tribute KAHAN TUM CHALE GAYE- where have you gone- will bring back on our stage the charming melody princess Gayatri Asokan from India together with her very articulate group of musicians.
Kenyans have a very special love affair with the music of the late ghazal maestro Jagjit and I am not surprised that the advance booking to witness Gayatri and her musicians relive his cherished musical memories is in full swing.
Finally, for those who have dreamt to see Indian Idol 2018’s winner and musical crown Prince Salman Ali and the singing stars of the Bollywood songs of the future on our stage, be happy as Rani Jamal of Ranees Production has made your dream come true. Salman Ali, the Indian Idol is scheduled to appear and perform for you at the Diamond Plaza II Auditorium Parklands on Friday, February 15.
Salman will be in the company of Neelanjana Ray and Nitin Kumar the equally talented young vocalists who were also the finalists of the prestigious Indian Idol Show that won millions of hearts the world over.
