A unique initiative to honour artistic achievements of the Indian silver screen and celebrate Bollywood globally is, as a norm, not held on the Indian soil but graces various exotic locales around the world annually.

The event, International Indian Film Awards, popularly referred to as IIFA Awards, is scheduled to be held this year from June 22, 2018 at the Siam Niramit Theatre Bangkok in Thailand.

This prestigious occasion is not only for members of the Indian film industry but also for the fans of Bollywood as it gives them an opportunity to travel from far and wide to mingle with their favourite star personalities and be part of the glitter and glamour.

SPECIALLY FLOWN OUT

The legendary Amitabh Bachan is the IIFA Brand Ambassador ever since its inception. The proceedings of the ceremonial cerebration will be brought live to Kenyan homes by the premier Asian radio facility East FM. Dashing Vikash Pattni and graceful Riya Sharma Shah and Edward have been specially flown out to the venue to spear-head the broadcast reports.

Reading through the releases by IIFA in Mumbai the selection of winners is to be made from leading on and off screen performers and films released from the year 2017.

Nominations for the best have been also received from fans around the world. Karan Johar, the master film maker, and Riteish Deshmukh, the popular actor, have been named to host the event on stage.

The award ceremony is also expected to feature some breathtaking performances by heartthrobs Ranvir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor known for their dancing skills.

LINED UP FOR AWARD

Anupam Kher, the exceptionally skilled stage and screen actor who has served Bollywood for 34 years and still continues to gallantly thrill the audience, I understand has been lined up for a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anupam a celebrity is already the recipient of the national civilian honour of Padma Bhushan for his service and contribution to cinema and performing arts.

Show goers will certainly remember him and his visit to Kenya last year when he showed up not only to exhibit his theatrical histrionics but also to identify train and groom our young talent.

His play Mera Who Mutlab Nahin Tha a tale of geriatric romance has left some undeniable memories for our theatre goers to cherish. The play was brought our way and presented by Ranee Productions.

As we look forward to enjoy IIFA 2018 let us not forget that on 23rd June we have another heavenly opportunity to see and hear the legendary Rahat Fatheali Khan, who returns to mesmerise us with his melodies at Diamond Plaza 2.

It is yet another Ranee Production presentation. You can still make an advance booking at Pal’s Bookshop Diamond Plaza. Have a great and happy Eid.
