You probably have several goals that you hope to achieve this year. Many of us wish to improve our finances, relationships and health. You may even wish to reach a point of self-actualisation, where you achieve above and beyond your greatest expectations.

Here are some ways to jumpstart the process.

Stop procrastinating:

It is really true when you are told that procrastination is a thief of time. Think of all the things you had planned to do in 2015, and did not even start because you kept putting them off.

Some of these things probably included urgent issues such as going for a full medical check up, helping your children with schoolwork, reading the entire Bible, joining a gym, and even saving.

Start on whatever you need to do without making excuses. You will be pleasantly surprised by December to find out what you have accomplished.

Start with what you have, where you are:

One of the reasons why people fail to achieve is because of looking at limitations. However, the principle of starting with the little you have will pay great dividends. Suppose you wish to write a book; you should start by doing the manuscript even before you have a publisher. If you cannot afford the cost or time to go the gym, simply start by walking briskly for 30 minutes a day. If you

wish to start a business but have no capital for overheads and advertising, start by working from home. Many big organisations began as briefcase companies.

To do this successfully, avoid going into capital-intensive businesses and begin by selling your talents and skills. If you keep waiting for the day that you have all it takes to start, you may lose the advantage of the early bird.

Keep focused:

If you are trying to implement several far-fetched ideas at the same time, chances of failing are high because you may not be able to work on each one properly. The idea is to focus on one or two related areas and excel at them.

When you are focused, you will find that whatever you are doing is thorough and consistent, even though it may not be outstandingly brilliant. This is how accomplishments occur.
