  • “Contrary to what people were saying, that I brainwashed Esther, I came to know about their relationship later, as they told me they were together in Australia studying law and that they had rekindled an affair they had back then,” said Hellon.

Jazz musician Joseph Hellon has blamed Quincy Timberlake for Esther Arunga's woes, claiming that he misdirected the former television news anchor.

In a phone interview with Nation.co.ke, the Finger of God Church pastor said he had investigated Mr Timberlake when the latter lived at his Runda home and found out things he did not like about the man.

“I assigned him a driver and a bodyguard and instructed them to monitor his movements and communication and the report they gave me proved that indeed he was not a good person," said Hellon.

In an earlier interview with NTV, Mr Hellon recounted how he took in Timberlake after he came back to the country and since he was then living with his cousin, Ms Arunga, the two started a relationship.

'I CAME TO KNOW OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP LATER'

“Contrary to what people were saying, that I brainwashed Esther, I came to know about their relationship later as they told me they were together in Australia studying law and that they had rekindled an affair they had back then,” said Hellon.

Mr Hellon added that it was after his investigations of who Timberlake really was and a confrontation with him seeking an explanation of his escapades that Timberlake turned against him and even made Ms Arunga never to trust him.

DECIDED TO LET THEM LEAVE THE HOUSE

Mr Hellon then decided to let them leave his house and the couple even went ahead and pleaded guilty in a court case that they were enjoined in about the Finger of God Church.

“The two were given a suspended sentence although the case was later quashed due to lack of evidence and we were all cleared irrespective of the fact that the two had pleaded guilty,” he added.

Mr Hellon recounted how he lost Sh300,000 meant to be used to register the Placenta Party under which he intended to run for president.

“I was aware that he was a bad guy while living abroad, since, when he came to me, he confessed all the things he had been up to and stated that he needed to reform and be part of the church. I accepted him as any other pastor would accept a person who is willing to reform,” said Hellon.

EXTENDED FAMILY

The jazz maestro stated that he was willing to support Ms Arunga and to help her get back on her feet and even help her secure a job either in the media or in law.

He added that the extended family, starting with Mrs Arunga, Esther’s mother, was more than willing to rehabilitate her and ensure she got back on her feet and was free of Mr Timberlake.

“Timberlake thrives in controversy, that is why he married Esther so as to be able to gain prominence, popularity and money out of people’s good will,” he added.
