Glenn Close wins best drama actress Golden Globe for 'The Wife'

Outside bet Glenn Close won a best actress Golden Globe on Sunday for her role as a woman who refuses to remain in the shadow of her husband in The Wife, catapulting her into Oscars contention.

Close bested favourite Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) as well as Nicole Kidman (Destroyer), Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Rosamund Pike (A Private War) on her way to a third career Globe.

Green Book wins Golden Globe for best comedy film

Green Book-- the story of a black classical pianist in 1960s America who hires an Italian-American bouncer as his driver for a tour of the racially divided South -- on Sunday won the Golden Globe for best musical/comedy film.

It bested royal romp The Favourite, rom-com hit Crazy Rich Asians, Disney sequel Mary Poppins
