Kennedy Otieno a.k.a Kennon is a gospel artiste and producer.

Although he considers himself a rookie in the music industry, he has already produced and sang a number of songs.

His song, Kaza Kamba featuring Luminas bagged him a best collaboration award in the Mwafaka Awards.

His latest single Bonga Points has already elicited mixed reactions with many asking whether he has a stake in Safaricom.

But he says he used the analogy to relay a massage that encourages he youth to talk to God more often.

FIRST SONG

He recorded his first song Tell Me Why in 2008. Though the song got little airplay, it was a 'good first step'.

Last year, he released the hit song Alipenda Doh a song that has proven to be popular especially among the young.

This fact prompted him to release a remix of the same in collaboration with the likes of Tetete, Sarah Mirie, Bobby (Budah Boss), Brayo Shepherds, Collo and Salim (Holy Battalion), with the video expected to be ready by next month.

“As of now I have recorded songs for the likes of Alahola of the hit song Miss Mboch, Pace, Kayvo K-force, Ace the don, Tetete, Mizizi Gaga, Mivela , Tess, Salim, The Journalist, Pokah Face, Beatonaz and Mariana whom we signed a few months ago,” he explains.

PROPRIETOR

He is also the proprietor of record label Klimax Music.

“We have already recorded a song Siwezi Peke Yangu, that was a collaboration of Kenyan artiste Sarah Mirie and Chidi Benz from Tanzania,” he explains.

What sets him apart from other local artistes, he says, is the fact that his songs are usually a depiction of real life.

Born in Lucky Summer Estate in the outskirts of Nairobi, this artiste believes that his musical journey is bound to succeed in the footsteps of likes of Willy Paul, Kenti of M.O.G, Didiero (CEO of Mwafaka Awards), who also grew up in the same area.

As for now his dream is to one day work with Juliani. “Internationally the rock group Casting Crowns and rapper Lacrae have also caught my eye.”

He hopes to spread his musical wings that will see him being a household name internationally, with his Klimax Music studio becoming a label to beat not just in East Africa but all over the world.
