The track, which is the anthem for animated film 'Despicable Me 2', is up for a Best Original Song at the awards on March 2 and producers have now announced Pharrell will also take to the stage to perform live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

It's the first time the 40-year-old musician has been nominated for an Oscar. Pharrell was responsible for writing and producing the hit.

Pharrell recently won the Producer of the Year prize at the 2014 Grammy Awards and also landed accolades for his work on 'Get Lucky', his collaboration with Daft Punk.

At the Oscars he is up against U2's 'Ordinary Love' (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Karen O's 'The Moon Song' from Her and Frozen's 'Let It Go' by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Pharrell will join the likes of Adele, who won an Oscar for 'Skyfall' last year, and the cast of Les Miserables, who have both performed at the ceremony.

The Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air live on Sunday, March 2, on ABC.
