With the awards season here, one music group in Kenya is surely carrying the day and has received more than one nomination in different international awards.
Sauti Sol was on Wednesday nominated for a BEFFTA UK Award in the Best International African Act category.
The all-men group that wowed fans with their latest hit “Sura Yako” that has the famous Lipala Dance is up against big African names like Davido, Psquare, Radio & Weasel, Tiwa Savage and Awilo Longomba, among others.
Sauti Sol are the only Kenyan artists nominated in this year’s BEFFTA, which recognises showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa, Caribbean, Canada and globally.
The music group is also nominated in the prestigious MTV Europe Music Awards for the Best African Act, whose voting closes in less than a week.
The group has been nominated in the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards for the category of Most Gifted Video in East Africa, where they are up against another Kenyan group, Elani, Tanzania’s Diamond, Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Navio.
Another African award that has nominated the group is the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in the Best African Group category, where they are up against Mafikizolo and Psquare, among other groups.
It’s now up to the band’s fans across the world to vote for them and ensure they bag these awards.
