Dating back from 2013, the Kenya Fashion Awards celebrates diverse aspects of creativity including designers, fashion photographers, models, fashion stylists, make-up artists, hair stylists and other creatives in the fashion scene.
The 2016 awards saw names such as Brian Babu winning Fashion Stylist of the year and Vivo winning Designer Brand of the Year. The latter is presented to Kenya-based designer brands showing excellence in exposure and progress.
This year’s nominees have been announced with some new but exciting names to showcase their talent.
The category for East Africa Designer of the Year has seen some returning competitors such as Deepa Dosaja (Kenya) with some new brands including John Kaveke (Kenya) and Koki Designs (Ethiopia/Kenya). The popular category of Fashion Photographer of the Year includes versatile photographers new to the awards such as Thandiwe Muriu (thandiwemuriu.com) and Tint Seh (tintseh.co.ke)
Other categories to watch out for include Fashion Stylist and Fashion Brand of the Year. These categories feature influential names in the industry such as William Rodger Gitau, Vivo and The Kikoy.com
The Kenya Fashion Awards will hold its 5th Annual Fashion Show and Awards Gala on October 7, 2017 at Fairmont The Norfolk, Nairobi.
The awards not only provide an evening of glam, fashion and style, but also seek to develop excellence and growth in a sector that is a significant contributor to the Kenyan economy.
The attendees will range from fashion icons to creatives in the entertainment industry. If you haven’t already, grab your tickets and book your spot because space is limited and you wouldn’t want to miss out on one of the most important evenings in the Kenyan Fashion calendar.
