When Eric Omondi (the comedian) gives you a “plot” for the weekend, you’ll be a fool not to counter-check the details.
Unfortunately, Nameless and Nyashinski (formerly of Kleptomaniacs) fall for it and attend one organised by Eric, only to learn that he’s a caretaker at the mansion where the party is taking place, which he claimed to own. The wild party goers and the tag-teaming musical duo —who are renewing their musical chemistry after their 2006 hit 'Najidai' — are almost thrown out of the palatial home when the real owners return unexpectedly.
This video is not only fun and entertaining to watch, but also a technical class act. Firstly, someone must have prevailed on producer R Kay to, at last, re-evaluate the treble of his productions because Letigo has an uncharacteristically crisp rhythm section. R Kay ordinarily keeps his final mixes dull on the edges, forcing most deejays to accentuate the highs whenever they play his productions. On this one, however, the legendary producer re-invents his sound and makes a groovy afro beat that is sharp and edgy, and has that “bite” that deejays appreciate.
Nyashinski, on his part takes the Nameless path and transitions from rapping to singing with a voice which, although slightly auto-tuned, is surprisingly sweet and melodious. Enos Olik then takes the baton and races towards victory with a glowing video, full of sunlight and colour, and camera angles that would rival the best from Hollywood.
In the final analysis, Letigo reinforces the view that making a great record is becoming less about a single heroic individual’s effort and increasingly about working with an extraordinary team.
