Gigiri CID chief Daniel Kandie confirmed the arrest but did not divulge more details.

Last week on Friday, the court declined to stop the police from arresting the legislator.

Lady Justice Grace Ngenye Macharia rejected his application seeking anticipatory bail to bar police from arresting him.

Mr Mwiti through lawyer John Khaminwa, was willing to deposit money if directed by court and pledged to abide by the directions.

The judge however ruled that granting the orders would be interfering with the rules of justice and directed that in case Mr Mwiti will be arrested before April 8 when his urgent application will be heard, he should not be held for more than 24 hours before being taken to court.

“The police have a duty to arrest anyone suspected of committing an offense and stopping that will amount to interfering with the smooth administration of justice,” the judge said.
