Officers attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Monday morning arrested a bodyguard attached to Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

Mr Moses Mogaya Nyamohanga, alias John Chacha, was arrested at a hotel opposite Milimani Law Courts, where he had gone to have breakfast while waiting for his boss to be charged.

FALSIFIED DOCUMENTS

Three officers in plainclothes pounced on Mr Mogaya as he entered the hotel.

They greeted him before disarming and handcuffing him.

Mr Mogaya was immediately whisked into a awaiting vehicle which sped off.

A tweet from the commission said he was arrested for allegedly falsifying academic documents and using them to secure employment as an Administration Police officer.

“The EACC received a complaint, conducted investigations and established that the subject used certificates belonging to one Mr John Chacha Nyamohanga to get entry to the Administration Police Service in 2006,” the EACC said.

The Commission said Mr Mogaya will be charged with impersonation contrary to Section 384 of the Penal Code.

“The EACC forwarded the file to the DPP who gave consent to arrest and initiate criminal proceedings against Mr John Chacha Nyamohanga alias Mwita Moses Mogaya,” the statement said.

Mr Obado denied murdering 26-year-old Rongo University student Ms Sharon Otieno and was remanded to Industrial Area Prison until Tuesday, when his lawyers will argue for his release on bail.
