The saga on the ownership of land on which Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) stands deepened Friday after politician Nginyo Kariuki said he will move to court over the matter.

He said he will sue the Registered Board of Trustees and the National Land Commission if they fail to revert the title back to the college in seven days.

The controversy came into the limelight this week after the Nation published details on how the land previously owned by the institute had been taken over by an entity known as The Registered Trustees of Kiambu Institute thus depriving the college all its land.

The Registered Trustees led by businessman Allan Ngugi and former Commissioner of Lands James Raymond Njenga on Friday described the story as “malicious and highly defamatory”, insisting that “at no time in its history was the land ever owned by KIST college”.

Mr Kariuki said he will in court demand audited accounts of the college, and seek to know how the land ceased from being owned by KIST.
