Suspects in girl’s rape still free

County police are yet to make any arrests a week after they launched fresh investigations into the attack that happened on June 26 in Tingolo village, Butula. (READ: Six youths in gang rape case ‘still free’)

The girl’s mother on Tuesday questioned the delay by the police to apprehend the suspects yet they have some of the suspects names and their homes.

“All that we want is justice. The suspects are known and police should move quickly to arrest them so that they can pay for their evil deeds,” said the teenager’s mother at Gynocare Fistula Centre in Eldoret on Tuesday. (READ: Stand with Liz: MPs want police arrested)

Former Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission boss Patricia Nyaundi and Butula-based child rights campaigner Mary Makokha accused police of violating the teenager’s rights by failing to arrest her attackers.
