The people killed in the Dusit terror attack

Twenty-one people were killed in the DusitD2 hotel attack after terrorists stormed the office park on Tuesday.

The 20-hour siege ended after Kenyan forces, a multi-agency team led by the General Service Unit, killed all the attackers on Wednesday.

Family and friends of those who died have paid tribute to their loved ones who died in the heinous attack.

Here is a list (incomplete) of those who died in the attack:

1. FEISAL AHMED

Ahmed was the first victim of the attack to be named.

He died alongside his friend Abdalla Dahir as they were having lunch after the militants attacked them on Tuesday afternoon.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who is Mr Rashid’s cousin said: “I lost my cousin Feisal Ahmed Rashid to yesterday’s attack at Dusit Hotel and his Friend Abdalla Mohamed Dahir as they were having Lunch at the restaurant…My condolences to all Kenyans who lost their lives.”

2. ABDALLA MOHAMED DAHIR

Both Dahir and Ahmed worked on the Somali Stability Fund, a project managed by Adam Smith International. The two colleagues died together at the outdoor restaurant within the Dusit complex.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the loss of our dear colleagues, Abdalla Dahir and Feisal Ahmed, in yesterday's tragic attack in Nairobi. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un,” their organisation said in a Twitter post.

3. JAMES ODUOR ALIAS COBRA

Cobra, 28, worked at LG Company in the Customer Service Department situated at 14 Riverside, was trapped inside the offices on Tuesday evening when the attacks started.

"What's happening at 14 Riverside fam? Any news from out there?" he posted on Twitter. Tuesday was his birthday eve. He is survived by his wife and one child.

4. JASON SPINDLER

Mr Spindler, 40, an American businessman was the founder and chief executive of I-DEV International, a strategy and investment advisory firm. 

A survivor of the terrorist attack in New York on September 11, 2001 that left more than 3,000 dead, Mr Spindler was killed while having lunch at the Dusit Hotel. 

According to his mother, Sarah Spindler, he worked at the World Trade Centre in New York before moving to Nairobi to found the tech company. ​​

5. UNNAMED AUSTRALIAN

The Australian High Commission requested the media to delay revealing the name of its national who had travelled more than 10,000km to visit his girlfriend Esynovian Meli, who is a Kenyatta University student. 

Ms Meli said her boyfriend was a housing consultant in Australia and was on his first visit to Kenya where he planned to visit her parents in readiness for their engagement before heading back. 

6. DEDRIX LEMISI

Mr Lemisi was a guard at Senaca security firm.

7. ZACHARY OMBOGA

Mr Omboga also worked at Senaca.

8. BERNADETTE KONJALO

Bernadette was the revenue manager at DusitD2 Hotel.

9. JAPHET NDUNGUJA

Japhet was a General Service Unit officer.

Ashford was one of the six senior employees of Cellulant, a tech company, who died in the attack. He was the head of product development

11. DENNIS MWANIKI

Dennis was the head of information security at Cellulant.

12. JEREMIAH MBARIA

Jeremiah Mbaria was the head of hub at Cellulant.

13. JOHN NDIRITU

John was a quality assurance tester at Cellulant.

14. KELVIN GITONGA

Kelvin was a hub engineer at Cellulant.

15. WILFRED KAREITHI

Wilfred was the implementation engineer, global delivery team at Cellulant.

16. BEATRICE MUTUA

Beatrice was an employee at DusitD2 hotel.

17. ERICKSON MOMANYI

Erickson was an employee at DusitD2 hotel.

18. TRUFFOSA NYABOKE

Truffosa was an employee at DusitD2 hotel
