Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared "total war" on dreaded criminal gangs in Kisauni, Mombasa County, following the killing of at least 20 people in 2018.

Dr Matiang'i, who is known for tough-talk and reforms, on Monday vowed to wipe out all criminal activities in the sub-county he visited on Monday.

'DON'T WORRY'

The CS said that the ministry had taken measures to ensure security in the area.

“I assure residents that we are completely prepared and have the resources and the capacity to keep the country safe. No one should be worried,” said.

“We designed a security operation that we are implementing around this area. I will communicate when that operation is done."
