The Nation Media Group has partnered with mobile phone provider Safaricom to offer readers an opportunity to access the Daily Nation e-paper free for three months.

To enjoy the offer, you will be required to purchase a tablet from any Safaricom shop.

The tablet contains a new application that will enable you to read the day’s newspaper in the form it appears in print.

The application has been developed by the NMG Digital Division and is available on Android and in a few weeks via iOS.

Mr Agastee Khante, the Nation Digital Division General Manager, said the company’s interest was to make available quality content to even a larger audience.

“With changing consumer habits and increased tablet and smart phone usage, it’s a logical step for media and telecom firms to partner and offer services to consumers, which adds value to their digital experience,” Mr Khante said.

“Partnerships are an integral part of digital ecosystems and we are very glad to be working with Safaricom on this initiative, which I do believe is a first in Africa,” he added.

Safaricom’s head of Internet and Content, Mr Morris Maina, said Kenyans embracing the digital age could not shut their eyes to the increased uptake of tablets as handy tools for business and social interactions.

The partnership illustrated how organisations could utilise the best of their abilities jointly to satisfy the needs of their customers, he said.

“We offer the fastest, reliable and affordable data bundles, while the Nation Media Group offers its credible and widely-read newspaper,” Mr Maina added.

With the tablet, you will be required to visit the website www.safaricom.com/dailynation to subscribe. The subscriber will then be prompted to install a Safaricom newspaper reader.

Android tablet users can download the Safaricom Daily Nation Reader app from Google Play Store, while those with Apple iPad tablets will have to fill details in a simple form.

You will receive a message confirming your registration within two hours.

The product has a feature that notifies subscribers that their copy of the Daily Nation is ready for downloading and reading and another for reading past editions.
