Police ask woman stripped in Nairobi to make official complaint

Police have asked the woman who was stripped in Nairobi allegedly by touts to report to the nearest police station and make an official complaint.
In a statement on Saturday, police spokesperson Gatiria Mboroki said police officers will carry out investigations into the matter that has sparked controversy.
Central Police divisional commander, Paul Wanjama, said no woman has reported to such kind of an assault to them.
NO COMPLAINT MADE
He said that even though the event allegedly happened in the Central Business District, no one has recorded any complaint with the police.
“We are, however, investigating the matter,” he said on Saturday morning.
A group of women in Nairobi have said they would on Monday hold a demonstration in support of the woman, with reports of a similar incident having been reported in Mombasa.
The demonstration is organised by the Kilimani Mums, a social media group largely made up of women.
The procession which has been backed by several Kenyans on social media will begin from Simmers Club in Kenyatta Avenue to Moi Avenue at around 11:30 am and proceed to Moi Avenue to the Office of the President on Harambee Avenue.

On Wednesday, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) stated on Twitter that it had forwarded the viral video of a lady being stripped naked beside a bus to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office for action.
“The DCI will analyse the video with a view to identifying, apprehending and immediately bringing to justice the perpetrators of this heinous incident” the ODPP stated.
