Sh791m NYS scam suspects want Waiguru barred from speaking on the matter

Suspects in the Sh791 million National Youth Service (NYS) theft scandal have asked a court to bar former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru from making comments relating to the case in the media.

They told the court that Ms Waiguru has been making statements that are prejudicial to their trial.

They also want summonses issued on the matter by the National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee to be quashed, saying they are already on trial in a criminal court.

They say subjecting them to a second defence before the parliamentary committee will be double jeopardy.
