Prosecutor accuses suspect of delay ploy in Ng'ang'a suit

Pastor Ng’ang’a of the Neno Evangelism Centre and his three co-accused— Mr Nzilu, Mr Patrick Baya and Mr Simon Kuria— have been charged with the death of Ms Mercy Njeri in a road crash at Manguo in Limuru on July 26.
The prosecution has warned that it may seek the cancellation of televangelist James N’gan’ga’s bond and that of his three co-accused in a case where he is accused of causing the death of a woman through dangerous driving.
This is after the hearing, which was scheduled for Wednesday, failed to proceed after one of the accused applied for an adjournment to allow his lawyer to familiarise himself with the case.
DELAY TACTICS
Five witnesses under the witness protection programme were expected to give their evidence Wednesday.
However, Mr Christopher Nzilu of the Kenya Police Airwing objected, arguing that his lawyer is new to the case.
The State Counsel Alloys Kemo protested saying that the lawyer had been given the documentary evidence and he had enough time to study the case.
He said it was a ploy to delay the case.
CHARGES

The accused were released on Sh1 million, Sh100,000 and Sh50,000 bonds, respectively pending the hearing.
Limuru Senior Principal Magistrate Godfrey Oduor said that the accused has a right to a fair trial, which includes representation by an advocate of his choice.
The hearing was set for December 11.
