Uhuru to woo German investors in his official visit

- On Thursday, Mr Kenyatta is expected to lead a delegation into a business forum with Germany investors to raise awareness on the available business and investment opportunities in the country with a view to increasing Foreign Direct Investment.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday afternoon arrived in Berlin, Germany where he is set to hold talks with his host Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The plane carrying the President and First lady Margaret Kenyatta landed at Berlin-Tegel Airport shortly before 2.00 pm and was received by senior German officials and Kenya’s Envoy in Berlin Joseph Magutt, a statement from the Presidential Strategic and Communications Unit (PSCU) said.
The statement said President Kenyatta arrived at the Chancellery for bilateral talks with his host Chancellor Merkel and was accorded full military honours by the Germany defence forces.
“While in Berlin, President Kenyatta and the host will explore ways of deepening the existing bilateral relations in key areas of trade and investment, tourism, education, culture and security,” said the statement sent to newsrooms.

President Kenyatta is scheduled to tour one of the world’s leading providers of renewable energy training and efficiency education — the Renewable Energy Academy AG (RENAC).
RENAC has, since inception in 2008, trained over 6,000 people from 145 countries on green energy and a variety of business services to develop capacities for a sustainable energy supply.
Kenya Government is investing heavily in energy and is exploring areas of cooperation and opportunities for technology transfer as it embarks on developing a wind farm being part of its commitment to renewable energy.
Kenya and Germany remained traditional trading partners since Kenya’s independence with Germany being one of the country’s most important export destinations.
President Kenyatta was in Paris, France where he held meetings with the host that ushered in a new era of trade partnership between companies in the two countries.
