Uhuru is first Kenyan president to have female Aide-de-Camp

President Uhuru Kenyatta has a female aide-de-camp (ADC).

Lieutenant Colonel Rachel Nduta Kamui, who is the deputy to new ADC Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Stelu Lekolol, was seen sitting behind the President the Kenya Music Festival Winners Concert at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri, on Friday.

Lt Col Kamui is from the Kenya Air Force.

Lekolol, who took over from Lt Colonel Victor Mburu, became the first ADC from the Kenya Navy.

The ADC is the personal assistant to the President. The roles of ADCs include receiving gifts and other items on behalf of the President and escorting him from State House into a waiting car among others.

The ADC’s other roles are carrying the President's personal items like mobile phones and speeches.

The ADC’s role is largely ceremonial .
