Uhuru meets China's Defence Minister

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday met with China’s Minister of National Defence General Chang Wanquan.

The President and Gen Chang discussed defence cooperation and other bilateral issues between Kenya and China.

The President lauded the relationship Kenya has maintained with China that has seen the East African nation make strides in infrastructure development.

The Standard Gauge Railway that was launched last month is one of the projects that has been implemented through the close cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting held at State House, Nairobi, the Head of State and Gen Chang also discussed the Belt and Road Initiative through which China is spearheading a global infrastructure network covering Asia, Europe and Africa.
