President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered police to investigate the cause of a fire that destroyed property worth millions at Nairobi’s Gikomba Market.
"The incident has displaced many traders from all over the country and investigations should be launched to find the culprits and action be taken against them," he said.
He said the government will help in rebuilding the market.
“The Government will stand with the affected traders by building the market to enable them continue with their business,” said the President.
The fire gutted the market at about 3am Friday morning.
The President was speaking at Maua stadium during his vote hunting tour in Meru County.
It was their first campaign tour in Meru County since the Supreme Court annulled their victory.
He was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto and other leaders from the county including Governor Kiraitu Murungi and former governor Peter Munya.
The President urged the residents to vote for them in the repeat poll like they did in the August 8 elections.
